The Wooden Spoon

So the boys have not been listening to me very well lately, they go in phases where they stop listening for a week or two and need to be reminded again. I decided to instill some fear into them and to carry a wooden spoon around with me. They are very scared of the spoon. It's been working well, I thankfully have not had to use it much as when they see it they usually stop right away whatever mischief they were up to. So far here is what's happened:

I put down the spoon the other day to make Dominic a bottle. Collin must have noticed. I was standing at the sink and felt a smack on my bottom. I turned around to find Collin with a mean grin on his face and the spoon in his hand. It definitely stings! Youch!

Aidan keeps telling us that the spoon is garbage. The next day I go to get the spoon and what do you know, it's missing!

So we bought a 3 pack of spoons yesterday, Aidan was not too happy.

My sister Anne gave me some advice, she has a spoon in every room, brilliant!

The wrecking crew at work

I sometimes send the boys downstairs to play in their play room for a little bit, it keeps them from getting the upstairs messy when I'm trying to keep it clean. I try to check on them often and I'll go to the basement door and call down to ask what they are doing. The other day I heard a lot of commotion and as usual and got the normal response of "we're just playing and being good mommy". I went downstairs to check to be sure they were not getting in to trouble and found this mess:

They put every single toy in a huge pile as you can see.
Yes, that's the closet door, they took it off the track, and took off all the shudders, some are even broken now. I did not expect to find a mess to this extent, it was maybe 30 minutes that they were even down there! What energy these boys have!

Collin got a big owie

Aidan & Collin were playing in a big plant & dirt filled ceramic pot on the porch yesterday, I told them a few times to stop playing in the plant. I was turned around holding Domi & heard a crash. The pot fell over and Collin was screaming. There was blood coming out of his leg fast. Luckily Jeff was home, he took care of getting the bad cut to stop bleeding and I took him to Urgent care, we knew right away that it needed stitches. So that was no fun watching the stitches go in and holding him down while the poor guy screamed. The Doctor put a bunch of extra stitches over the first ones because he figured Collin was pretty active. Collin active? He got that right!

I was attacked

So it's kind of long but at the end they attack me! I'm so out numbered.

This week

Let's see, what's happened...

We thought Collin got a hold of and ate some 600 mg ibuprofen - spent a few hours in the ER, amazingly he did not eat any.

Collin has been saying his first full sentence he learned from Aidan "I don't Know." he mostly uses it when we ask who did something.

Dominic had his first piece of candy. I found his mouth blue and nearby was a mike & ike's blue candy. Collin decided to share.

I was able to go to Garden Ridge with the kids for a whole hour today, they were so good! I guess I'm going to be able to get out a bit more with them now. Normally I do not take all the kids unless Jeff is with me.

Aidan has been a huge help with the baby, he's always playing with him keeping him happy.

It runs in the family

My sister Lisa has 7 children, her youngest two are twin 2 year olds, Chloe & Calista. I had to share their pictures, it makes me think I'm not alone.

Personality

Dominic's personality is really showing through these days. He is so laid back, he has two brothers all over him all the time and loves it. Collin accidentally (well sometimes by accident) hurts him somehow daily. Today Collin had his dirty toe in Dominic's mouth, I was disgusted when I looked over and saw this! Tried to explain to him he can't do that, all I get is "why?". Dominic's just laughs and laughs at Collin so that's going to make him continue to do these things to him of coarse. He will just lay on the floor playing for hours and loves to laugh at everyone all you have to do is look at him, I think he has a sense of humor. Good thing, you have to to live in this house right now!

stinkers!

Saturday was wonderful:

My climber Collin swallowed half a bottle of Gummi vites. And why don't they have a safety cap? That's ridiculous! Poison control said he should be fine. Well he is fine but they are all coming out in diapers, not fun!

Aidan told me "don't talk back to me Mom" after I was telling him not to do something or another. He's becoming quite bossy!

Action Shot

I was not around when this picture was taken (Aunt Tish took it, great job!) , I probably would have been too nervous to watch anyway. The boys love Uncle Erik, he's always doing something crazy with the kids like this picture or putting them in a toy car and lifting it off the ground from his barn with a rope and he luges with skateboards and kids. He's always thinking of something fun and scary for moms, to do.

Alex

Alex just got his appendix removed! He has been feeling sick on and off for a little while, sure enough his appendix was inflamed. He's doing alright now, just had the surgery tonight. It all went smooth and he should be back to normal in a few days!

Oh the things they say

So Aidan and I were talking about feelings and being angry and he says "yeah and sometimes we get pissed off!" Oh my, I wonder who he got that from! Daddy! I never want to laugh when they say something bad but it's so hard not too! I had to explain that we should not use that expression while trying to keep a straight face.

Dominic's First Feeding

We decided to start Dominic on cereal today, about 2 weeks earlier than we intended, he seemed ready though and he was. He loved it! This will be quite a bit more work for us with having to measure, count calories and log everything he eats to make sure he gets very little fat and gets enough of the medium chain fat he can have. We had a good time feeding him, Aidan & Collin both wanted turns feeding him also. Of coarse Dominic dodged Collins's attempt, with good reason!
